The Centre for Enterprise Development (CED / the Centre), a centre within the Namibia University of Science and Technology, was established in 2000 to facilitate capacity building initiatives for the public, private and NGO sectors.

Graphic Design and Web Development Certification

Course Description

This course prepares participants that would like to pursue a career in Graphics and Web Design. Graphic Design professionals work alongside marketing, advertising and media teams, using their skills in visual communication to market products, thereby maximising profit growth for the client’s business.

Target Group(s)

Those that would like to pursue a career in graphic designing with a minimum of grade 12 certificate and those that have minimum of one (1) year work experience in the industry and have no formal graphics design qualifications. This course offers excellent preparation for International certification examinations.

Programme Objectives

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare students/participants for the real world of graphic design and web development starting from basic to advanced graphics and web programming techniques using the latest technology.

Entry Requirements

This course is designed for individuals with a minimum of a Grade 12 certificate and should have a good command of the English language with basic computer user skills.

Programme Design

This programme is comprised of 7 modules and classes will be offered three times a week from 17h30 – 19h30 over a period of 3 months. Modules: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, Dreamweaver, Premiere, After Effects, XHTML, CSS, Website creation using Content Management Systems (CMS).

Certification

An international Accredited Certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each module as well as a Certificate of Completion from the Namibia University of Science and Technology.

Target

This practical training has been specifically developed to enhance the performance of staff members such as Office Administrators, Project Coordinators, Project Officers, Project Managers, Donor Recipients, Supervisors, Mid-Level Managers and Senior Manager

Duration: 5 days

METHOD OF PRESENTATION
The course will be covered in 40 hours (5 days or 4 weeks in the evening). Various training methods such as formal lectures will be applied including small and large group discussions, facilitation sessions, case studies, quizzes, questionnaires, practical exercises PowerPoint presentations, Group work, Plenary, practical exercises and group discussions by the participants.
 
ASSESSMENT
An assessment (test) will be written at the end of the week and participants are expected to attend 80% of all sessions in order to qualify for certification.

EVALUATION
On the last day, participants will complete an online evaluation form to assess the quality of training. In many instances the limited time frame of the course does not allow for in-depth discussions. In such cases, the facilitator usually makes it quite clear that participants are welcome to discuss “unsolved” issues during breaks or after the course with the facilitator/trainer.
