About Us

Since its establishment by Act of Parliament No. 7 of 2015,Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) contributes to Namibia's development by providing technological career-oriented education and training at internationally recognised standards. NUST’s curricula thus fosters the practice, promotion and transfer of technology giving due regard to the professional human resource requirements of the region, the country and beyond.

The Centre for Enterprise Development (CED / the Centre), a centre within the Namibia University of Science and Technology, was established in 2000 to facilitate capacity building initiatives for the public, private and NGO sectors. Through standardised and tailor-made training initiatives, base line research and strategies to alleviate poverty, CED diversifies the markets and develops the Namibian labour force.

Having built a reputation for accountability and transparency CED has managed third party contracts exceeding N$21 million. Its approach is client driven and provides customised small and medium enterprise (SME) development, information- and communication technology (ICT) training and testing, short courses, industry focused programmes and consulting, social science research as well as partnering initiatives. Up to date skills transfer to more than 14 000 participants was done since its inception.

The significant role that CED plays within capacity building of the country is reflected in the winning of the Sam Nujoma Innovative Enterprise Development Award (SNIEDA) 2011 in the category ‘Capacity Building’. Furthermore the Centre is constantly involved in social responsibility activities such as:

  • Training for people with disabilities on governance and leadership together with the Ministry of Health and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) from England
  • The Floating Trophy: entrepreneurial project with students from the Highlands Christian School, Windhoek
  • Offering free training to high potentials or disadvantaged people who cannot afford participant fees
